Seed Programs International held a third webinar on self-replicating crops called Grow, Replicate, Share: A Scalable Approach to Feeding Communities. Many of the world’s most vital food crops share a powerful trait: their ability to self-replicate. This opens up exciting possibilities for accelerating access to improved crop varieties, especially in communities where food security is most at risk. This webinar was hosted by Brian Love, SPI’s Strategy and Operations Director. The event included a presenation, followed by a conversation with attendees.

Seed Programs International held a second webinar on Tomato Breeding to discuss how and why new tomato varieties are developed for diverse growing environments around the world. We highlighted the importance of disease mitigation in the short term and long term. This webinar was hosted by Alan Krivanek, SPI Board Member. Seed Programs International and Hunger X Poetry partnered to hold a Poetry for School Gardens virtual event in September 2023. 7 Poets read poetry during the event. Funds raised for this event went toward funding school garden projects in Kampala, Uganda with Sustainable Community Initiative for Empowerment.
